Efficient fodder picking-up with new silo block cutter

Powerful, top-of-the-range silo block cutter

On the occasion of the Agritechnica, Strautmann is presenting to the public a completely new silo block cutter with its new silo block cutter series Hydrofox HQ. The Hydrofox HQ is available in 3 sizes from 3.0 to 3.8 m³ and is rounding off the block cutter Hydrofox HX programme (1.8 - 2.8 m³) on offer so far.

Strautmann is the expert in feeding technology for cattle-keeping enterprises. Strautmann therefore offers its customers one of the widest product ranges on the market. The fact that Strautmann is presenting to the public a new silo block cutter series on the occasion of the Agritechnica 2011 shows that existing technologies such as the proven block cutter are not simply maintained but are constantly adapted to the needs of the market.

The Hydrofox HQ is available in 3 sizes (3.0 m³; 3.4 m³; 3.8 m³) thus representing a top-of-the-range silo block cutter, as the largest Hydrofox HQ model, the HQ 3800, manufactured in Bad Laer is the world's largest silo block cutter. The silo block heights of the different models vary between 1.57 m and 1.97 m.

The core of the HQ block cutter series is the basic frame with a width of 2.06 m. As the first and sole manufacturer, Strautmann has abandoned the proven block width of 1.81 m and enlarged the previous block by 25 cm. The wider block offers three great advantages for the end customer:

Compared to a deeper block used so far on larger block cutter models, a wider block is positioned more closely to the tractor. Due to the centre of gravity being positioned closely to the tractor, the driving characteristics are considerably improved and less lifting power is required.

Furthermore, it is to be noted that the width of tractors used nowadays to operate silo block cutters has significantly increased. The traditional block width of 1.81 m has already caused some problems in the bunker silo of one user or another when trying to pick up the silage cleanly up to the walls; this problem no longer exists when using the HQ.

Another important advantage is the fact that a wider silo block cutter helps to "clear" the complete cut surface considerably faster than a deeper device, thus further minimizing reheating in case of low feeds, in particular known during the summer months.

The HQ series is normally operated via direct tractor connection; a convenient electro-hydraulic system is also available on request. Further optional extras comprise a lifting frame, a hydraulic upper link and stainless steel knives.

Beyond that, the standard equipment includes a hydraulic pusher to safely put down the silage blocks with a width of 2.06 m and a depth of 0.93 m.

The Hydrofox HQ series will be presented for the first time on the occasion of the Agritechnica 2011 where it will be promptly available.
