Larger Strautmann volume on the market

Giga-Trailer 5401 - that is the name of the new top model of the Strautmann forage transport wagon series, which will be presented to the public on the occasion of this year's Agritechnica.

With the new forage transport wagon Giga-Trailer 5401 with a loading capacity of 52 m³ (according to DIN), Strautmann is meeting the demand for a larger transport volume. This volume can only be implemented by means of a chassis of very high quality, as not only the quantities of harvested chopped material are constantly increasing, but the haul distances are also becoming larger and larger. With a gross vehicle weight rating of 34 t, this requires maximum safety. The integrated hydro-pneumatic tridem chassis with electro-hydraulic forced steering axle system (Strautmann Electronic Steering - SES) and a hydro-pneumatic drawbar suspension meet the most stringent demands for reliability and driving comfort.

The electro-hydraulic forced steering axle system has already proved very successfully on the Strautmann forage trailers. The slim drawbar enables a maximum steering angle. Thus, this large vehicle remains easy to be manoeuvred in spite of its dimensions. Moreover, the SES excels by great road safety. Because unlike in purely hydraulic forced steering axle systems, the steering angle is adapted to the travelling speed. When travelling on the road at high speeds, the steering angle is reduced which leads to high driving stability. Rocking due to a fast ride and a quick steering movement is excluded.

With an empty weight of approx. 10.5 t, the Giga-Trailer has a payload of almost 24 t which not only has to be transported, but which also needs to be quickly discharged. The transport floor with four chain strands can alternatively be equipped with a hydraulic or a mechanical drive, thus ensuring shortest discharge times at or on the silo.

The weatherproof plastic bottom with its excellent surface slip properties contributes to the reduced dead weight. Here, Strautmann benefits from positive experience of existing products once again - this time from universal spreaders which are partly equipped with a plastic bottom.

For easy discharge on the silo, the Giga-Trailer can be equipped with metering drums which discharge a uniform blanket thus doing optimum preparatory work for the compacting vehicle.

The screwed body can optionally be connected with the chassis by means of twist lock fasteners. This enables quick replacement of different bodies.

An optional weighing device permits in-use weighing and saves precious time during harvesting. Offsetting and calibration of the chopper scales via the mobile weighing system are only some of the possible applications of these Strautmann innovations.

Another safety-related feature is the optional load-securing created by Strautmann by means of a hydraulically folding cargo space cover easy to operate from the tractor's seat.

The standard Giga-Trailer is operated via direct tractor connection. However, the optional electro-hydraulic control system increases the machine comfort and can avoid operating errors due to several safety circuits.

The new Giga-Trailer will be exhibited on the Strautmann stand at the Agritechnica 2011 in hall 27, stand H 36.
